how to avoid hay fever symptoms

Hints and tips on how to avoid  Hay fever symptoms

Summer is here again and so are the allergies and hay fever

Summer can be fun but not for people who suffer with hay fever it can be  a  nightmare
Runny eyes and noses,  sneezing and itching can be embarrassing ,  Most people go through life just putting up with it but you don’t have to there are many treatments which can help to ease all the symptoms
and avoid triggering allergies.

Allergic Rhinitis  is the term used by the medical profession for hay fever and some of the symptoms can be quite severe.
Nasal cilia are tiny hairs in your nose help keep pollen and dust out of the nasal passages and lets the natural mucus flow.

Around 18 million people in the UK suffer from some form of distressing allergy at some point in their lives
And affect about 1 in three children and is particularly prevalent in pre teens.
Hay fever is thought to be hereditary if  one or more of the parents have got it then you can usually be sure that  one or more of the kids are going to get it.

Spring and Summer is usually the worst time for hay fever sufferers its usually caused by the? high amount of pollen that is in the air its called the sneezing season.

But there are quite a few different tips and tricks that you can do to help ease the symptoms and calm the body’s reaction
And there are many medicines that can help too.  Some of the medicines can be taken
For a few weeks before the weather starts to get warm and the pollen count starts to get high ( about 3- 4 weeks) to help prevent an attack. They usually announce it on the news or weather forecast when the season is about to start.

A nutritious diet can also help to boost your immunity levels and so help prevent  or lesson the effects of hay  fever and other  allergies.  Such as  fresh fruits, vegetables, fish  and olive oil and also nuts unless you have an allergy to those as well.
Diets that are high in antioxidants and help protect cell damage and have immune boosting compounds .
Also zinc found in lean beef, shrimps, oysters, vegetables that contain zinc and whole grains. This act as
A natural antibacterial and antiviral to help protect the body’s natural immunity and to help fight infection.

Drinking tea that is hot with lemon and honey first thing in the morning activates movement of nasal cilia which will help to prevent sneezing and hay fever

Here are some tips that may help to  stop the spread of pollen and minimise the effects

                                                    In your home
Consider having hard or laminate flooring laid rather than carpets  you can just mop  with a
damp mop this will make the pollen stick to the mop instead of flying back into the
Air.
If you have carpets there  are some products in the shops that you can put in your hover bag or special filters that you can get and also make sure you vacuum  regularly or better still get someone else to do it while your out of the house or having a nice relaxing bath.

An air purifier can also help keep the air clean in your home but make sure it is suitable for the size of your room.

Try and keep the windows and doors closed as much as possible especially when the pollen count is high  I know it is difficult when its hot outside but if you have got air conditioning then you keep that  to keep the place cool.

When  you are doing the polishing try to do it with a damp cloth to leave the surfaces dust free and avoid using  spays and polishes as this will only aggravate your symptoms.

Replace any feather pillows with anti allergic ones to minimise the risk of allergies
Also for children if they also suffer and take a teddy bear to bed pop the teddy bears or soft toys into a plastic bag and put them in the freezer over night  to get rid of dust mites and then wash them after to get rid of any dead dust mites (that’s if you can get prize their  away long enough if not just put in freezer for a couple of hours.

                                                 Clothes  and personal
Wash your hair and shower before going to bed if you’ve been out as it will make any irritation worse at night.

Always try to wear wrap around sunglasses to protect your eyes and keep the pollen from irritating them
And also hypo allergic make up.
If you’ve been out when the pollen count is high wash your clothes  when you get in to remove any pollen.
Also avoid hanging your washing out  on these days .

Go to the chemists or doctor s and they ask for some antihistamines these need to be taken before it starts if you know you usually suffer from this as they need time to build up a resistance in your body.

Hope this information helps and hope you get through the spring and summer with as little discomfort as possible and helps to keep your hay fever at bay.
